Materials Movement were commissioned by Kier Living to remediate a former farm in Royston Bedfordshire as Principle Contractor. The north eastern area of the site was found to contain the remedial strategy outlined the need for removal of contaminated soils from back garden areas, installation of an anti-dig terram and placement of a 200mm capillary break layer. The formation was then left 600mm below finish levels for the clean capping layer to be placed by the ground worker. Arising’s were placed onto terram and removed to Non-hazardous licensed landfill using 8 wheeler tippers. Particulate air monitoring was commissioned during the muck away phase. The burial pits were then fenced and remediated. All operatives were required to wear task specific PPE and RPE. Each pit was carefully excavated with a small bucket. Carcasses were gently manoeuvred and placed into 215 Ltr. drums. Drums were then sealed and removed from site to a licensed incineration facility. The pits were then backfilled using crush concrete.
