Site Investigation & Verification/Validation

DEFRA have recently estimated £210m is spent annually on unnecessary remediation due to poor site investigations and reports. At Materials Movement we advise our clients to involve us in the decision making when purchasing land: From here working closely with site owners and remediation specialists we can design a cost effective site investigation with remediation in mind.

This method ensures the required information is gathered which enables us to design a suitably cost effective remediation strategy and price accordingly. This mitigates risk which in turn guards against additional cost for our clients.

Verification is the set of activities that provide the assurance that treatment (i.e. breaking the pollutant linkage by removal or covering) goal has been reached. We follow all current British standards and codes of practice to ensure each site is suitable for development. We realise the importance of robust methods to ensure the verification proposals are site specific and related to the potential risks involved. We also understand that the validation process is ongoing for the whole of the projects life and beyond.

Validation of imported fill materials or re-use of surplus site won materials is integral to many small scale remediation sites. We appreciate that validation of imported materials needs to be considered on a site by site basis and within the context of the sensitivity of the end use.
